Oláh (Rinaldo)

Rinaldo Oláh — “Slovak Paganini”

Slovak Roma — Zvolenská Slatina

Style: Slovak and Czech traditional song

Slovak concertmaster primás. Co-founder of SĽUK. Same professional world as the Hungarian café book, in a different state ensemble and a different country. A different musician from Oláh Ernő of a Budapest café night.

Portal SVK: Rinaldo Oláh, born 13 January 1929 in Zvolenská Slatina, died 1 June 2006 in Bratislava. Nickname: the Slovak Paganini. Co-founder of the Slovak Folk Art Collective (SĽUK) in 1949; concertmaster there for 32 years, until 1981. No conservatory diploma — a basic schooling, then a stipend stay of some months at the Prague Conservatory. Award of the Minister of Culture of the Slovak Republic, 2000. A lead-violinist competition is held in his honour in Zvolenská Slatina.

The Rómska Encyklopédia (Slovakia) adds the childhood line: violin at four; a concert at ten on the stage of the National House in Banská Bystrica. He also played guitar, cello and double bass. This archive files the SĽUK concertmaster. A Budapest restaurant Oláh of the same surname is a different musician.
