Reyes / Baliardo

Gipsy Kings

Gitane — Arles / Montpellier, southern France

Style: Flamenco

Rumba catalana from Gitane families in the south of France. Sons and nephews of José Reyes. A popular Romani guitar music, related to flamenco rather than Andalusian cante jondo.

Gipsy Kings — Bamboléo (Official Video). Gipsy Kings official channel.

The Gipsy Kings grew from Gitane families around Arles and Montpellier: Reyes and Baliardo kinship, rumba catalana, the word “Gipsy” on world radio. Related to flamenco, not the same palo.

Historia, May 2026. Cooking Vinyl. NPR Alt.Latino, 20 May 2026, played the title track. The public name on that record is Gipsy Kings featuring Tonino Baliardo.
